All very interesting, but it presupposes that the At-Large structure should
be created and built up INSIDE Icann's highly disreputable framework, as
opposed to being constructed independently as an "external" voice.

I suppose you can try to do both, but it's not democratic representation,
and it's a legitimising of Icann's agenda, by the very act of participating
in it and trying to build it up.

I take the alternative view that the best interests of ordinary internet
users is served by organising - for our own agenda - as an independent
group.

It's obvious that this ALAC process (and the appointment of leading members
of our group) will proceed, but I regard that as a trap and so at this point
I start preparing for the REAL at large coalition, which is an alliance of a
multiplicity of At Large groups, with diversity and independence from Icann.
I guess you could call this an "opposition" (or what Joop would call a
party).

I believe the Icann ALAC/RALO scenario is a "fake" At Large, being allowed
in order to manipulate people.

I believe the real At Large voice will emerge independently of this sham.

I shall be developing my own contribution to the At Large movement, outside
of Icann and ALAC, in the form of an umbrella organisation at
www.thepeoplesnet.com  and a platform for worldwide debate at
www.theglobalforum.com

The People's Net because that is what it is - a resource for all the people
on this planet.

How extraordinary that a corrupt and marginal little group working from
California should presume to lock out the voice of the people from its
Boardroom! How extraordinary that they assume the right to determine our
internet future, its shape, its processes and its policies!

Denise Michel and Esther Dyson are trying to draw in and marginalise the At
Large movement, and at this point I can see all too clearly the need to keep
the At Large movement independent of their wholly incredible goals.
