Re: [atlarge-discuss] Reimbursement of ALAC-Club Expenses

Eric and all,

I wouldn't go quite as far as to say this mess is a Fraud, Eric.
I would say that ICANN had really few choices. Joop's
application was bound to be rejected, as he does not represent
ICANNATLARGE.ORG members in any official capacity,
or unofficial capacity. Hence ICANN had to reject his application.
However by that same token, or for that same reason, ICANN
cannot legitimately justify providing for expenses for andy ALAC
"Club" members/representatives, as they cannot legitimately
say they represent anyone except the "Organizations" to
which are supposed "Members" of the ALAC. Yet,
ICANNATLARGE.COM not the dotORG version
is listed as one of those organizations of the ALAC
membership. What a quagmire! In any event, ICANN
has not impetus to pay for expenses for ICANNATLARGE.ORG
as we are currently not "Organized" yet or still.

All this said, I personally cannot see how ICANN with
it's already self admitted financial shortcomings can provide
for $33k in expenses to ALAC members for this next
ICANN meeting in Rio. To me this is a terrible and
intentional insult to the ICANNATLARGE.ORG members
that is seems Bruce missed entirely in his comments on this
subject/thread.

None the less, I hope that this insult is a lesson to all of the
ICANNATLARGE.ORG members that unless we get organized
these sorts of insults will be frequent from ICANN.
