Actually, Jan, you're in a better position than I am -- presumably
all you need to do is drop back to the DOS prompt, which is not
an option on my Macs unless there is a freeware or shareware
to let me do it or the server-side application is something like
Lynx.

In printing and publishing, it's been
"fast - cheap - good: pick two"
for over a century but the principle is the same. Double-checking
everything beforehand is considered essential.

As for guarantees of glitch-free success, I doubt one can achieve
this without testing, no matter how technically-adept the
"watchers" one chooses. To me, that seems like a different area
of expertise anyway: one doesn't need to be a programmer or
engineer to keep a list confidential or count votes without
tampering with them, and one doesn't need to be a "trusted"
individual to write a voting application if that application
will be open to the scrutiny of those who understand the
programming and can test it for reliability.

I admit I haven't even tried yet -- I will later, when I've given
some attention to my actual job.
