***********   Information on the next steps of the work of the WSIS
Preparatory Committee, including the inter-sessional period  **************

1. PrepCom II  has decided that comments received until 28 February 2003
will be consolidated into two basic working documents (drafts of Declaration
and Plan of Action respectively). These documents
shall be posted on the WSIS website on 21 March 2003.

2. The basic documents will be comprised of two parts.  The 1st part will
include contributions from member States and the 2nd part contributions from
observers. Civil society input will be part of the
observers' section of these documents.

3. Further comments to the basic working documents may be submitted
electronically by the end of May 2003.  All comments shall be posted on the
WSIS website.

4. Civil society entities participating in the WSIS process are invited to
send their comments for consideration before 30 May 2003

5. The WSIS Secretariat will be required to prepare a reference document
that will take into account comments and input received until 30 May 2003.

6. To advance negotiations, a formal intergovernmental drafting group will
be convened during a five-day meeting in July 2003.  This meeting should be
open to observers within the rules of procedure of
the PrepCom.

7. PrepCom III will be convened from 15 to 26 September and will consist of
two weeks of negotiations on all issues related to the Summit.

du SMSI et sur la période inter-sessions  **************


1. Le PrepCom II a décidé que les commentaires reçus avant le 28 février
2003 seront consolidés dans deux documents de base (ébauche de la
Déclaration et du Plan d'action respectivement).  Ces
documents seront publiés sur le site web du SMSI le 21 mars 2003.

2. Ces documents de base comprendront deux parties.  La première partie sera
formée des contributions des Etats membres et la deuxième partie comprendra
les contributions des observateurs.  Les
contributions de la société civile seront inclues dans la section réservée
aux observateurs.

3. Des commentaires sur ces documents pourront être transmis en format
électronique jusqu'à la fin du mois de mai 2003.  Tous les commentaires
seront publiés sur le site web du SMSI.

4 Les entités de la société civile participant dans le processus du SMSI
sont invitées à envoyer leurs commentaires avant le 30 mai 2003.

5. Le Secrétariat du SMSI devra préparer un document de référence qui
prendra en compte les commentaires et contributions reçus avant le 30 mai
2003.

6. Pour avancer dans les négociations, un groupe de travail
intergouvernemental se réunira à l'occasion d'une réunion de cinq jours en
juillet 2003.  Cette réunion sera ouverte aux observateurs selon les
règles de procédure du PrepCom.

7. Le PrepCom III se réunira du 15 au 26 septembre et comprendra deux
semaines de négociations sur toutes les questions relatives au Sommet.
