RE: [atlarge-discuss] Report01

One can Photoshop any picture onto a passport and insert text to reflect whatever name and address one wants to present on the Internet. Third-party verification is paramount to real identities from a distance. Sotiris Sotiropoulos suggested thawte.com as one way to resolve this issue. I am sure there are more. But, we need to follow that path.

Abel:

Thanks for your response to Report. Sorry for my delay in responding.

It is agreed that a photo in and of itself is of little or no value. In the
case under discussion herein the report column heading is entitled "Photo
in Link." The value of the photo(s) is in their being embedded in publicly
available web pages, particularly pages at sites independent of a
candidate. We have a good example of this in the instance of Mauro Rios
being reported in the next report, Report02, which is nearing publication.

The other report column heading is entitled "Photo ID Provided." There
again the photo is embedded, even more reliably, in a document.

There is a use in providing even expired Photo Identification. It would
demonstrate they were in your possession and consistent with your identity
in this list.

The verification & certification committee is now at three members:

Joey Borda/Bordo - starwalker@gay.com
Martha Gottlieb - megom@gwi.net
Jeff Holt - jefftttt@txucom.net

We have satisfied each other that we are who we say we are, with driver
license scans, and we can now certify ourselves to you and the rest of the
@large members.

We will continue to make ourselves available to receive scans of actual
identity documents in confidence until Saturday morning at which time we
will publish our final report to the members, in time for the election.

I think I "safely" speak for all of us on the committee that to gain your
confidence in us we will make our identification documents privately
available to you and other candidates in advance of you and the other
candidates doing so.

Providing these people's names to us and a way to contact them to confirm
your assertion would be evidentiary.

Can you more clearly put out the location of the certificate? I was unable
to locate it, or else not understand what I was looking for or at.

In combination with the paragraph above I am pleased to find that the
information tracks.

I will say however that while I have volunteered for and have a strong
feeling for this task I doubt our ordinary members are going to engage in
such a largely barrister/lawyer task I have just put myself through to
reach this conclusion.

I do not think you do your candidacy favor by expecting that of our
membership.Nor likely will a member telephone you. But I just might. Though
again this would be an extraordinary expectation in the current life of our
organization.

Nor likely will a member telephone you. But I just might. Though again this
would be an extraordinary expectation in the current life of our organization.

I have answered you in this forum rather than privately as I would have
preferred as you have raised the matter here.

Finally, all that you have brought to our attention will be entered as
links in the next report and considered by the committee in it's final
deliberations and certification rating conclusions.
