No matter what, in most democracies when a governement is send out by
the electorate or resigns by its own choice for whatever reasons, that
governement stays in place for the sole purpose of taking care of urgent
matters, daily tasks and organizing or taking responsibility fo new
elections. 
By the mass walk-out of the previous panel disdain was shown to the
membership who were to "take a hike" more or less. Despite the errors
made in the process, 3 people of which 2 at least were part of the panel
before the walk-out took their given responsibility and organize
elections not before calling on all "next in line" to join them, none
but eric took that call and this a position where they could make
difference but instead they chose to cry faul from the sideline.
Things could have gone better but those who left the panel, en mass, and
those not answering the call are equally to blame for any errors and
misgivings.

Let us hope that new panels will not walk out and when they feel they
can not longer function will at least instruct the election panel to
organize new elections.
