A while back Eric Grimm asked about HR 46, "Public Safety Medal
of Valor," and an amendment to it which slyly added substantial
provisions to increase assets forfeiture, wiretap, criminalization of
the use of encryption and other crime fighting must-haves which had
been previously rejected by the House and Senate. The bill and
especially its "dangerous, sneaky" amendment has attracted attention:

Though the bill and amendment was passed by the Senate on
December 15, it is not clear if it has been signed by POTUS. Would
anyone know if the bill is now law? Or is it lying there, ticking,
awaiting GWBJ's L&O squiggle?
