Almost Half of Internet Users are Writers, Not Just Readers

A new report from the Pew Internet Project says that "44% of U.S. 
Internet users have contributed their thoughts and their files to the 
online world."

Relatively little of this is blogging, and that's just fine. What's 
important about this report is the basic theme: People are becoming 
writers on the Net, not only readers from it.

Content, in other words, is as much about what we do for ourselves as 
what Hollywood tries to sell us.
