With all the debate about whether children's rights should take
precedence over adult rights to free speech, one question appears to
have been overlooked: what about children's rights to free speech?

Jon Katz, author and media critic, supports Peacefire's stance that
children have a right to read what they want, too.

Peacefire: Unblocking information

Last week, the pioneering Web site Peacefire, which has been
struggling for three years to protect children's' rights to free
speech and unfiltered information and access to the Internet, posted
explicit instructions for disabling eight of the country's biggest
blocking-software programs.

Until recently, the young have been helpless to fight back against
pervasive censorship technologies deployed against their will in the
name of their welfare and safety. That may have just changed.
