General Information : 

IST 99, the EU's annual conference and exhibition on Information
Society Technologies, will be held in Helsinki, Finland, from 22 to 24
November 1999. The conference theme for 1999 is Exploring the
Information Society. Special attention will be given to Central and
Eastern European countries. 

The IST 99 conference will cover the themes of the Information Society
Technologies Programme, one of the thematic programmes in the Fifth
RTD Framework Programme. The results from ACTS, Esprit and Telematics
Applications, programmes under the Fourth Framework Programme, will be
presented. And Central and Eastern European countries will have the
opportunity to present their IT expertise to potential EU partners. 

The exhibition will present leading-edge technologies and products
from the Framework programmes and will include a showroom presenting
Finnish IT expertise. Central and Eastern European countries will have
a special pavilion. 

The event will also include the presentation of the European IT Prize
awarded for Europe's most novel IT products. The Investment Forum will
provide the opportunity for Europe's leading companies to present
themselves to financial and industrial investors and intermediaries.

available.
