i accept this nomination.

those who've followed my writings on ICANN must surely know that i'm
bitterly cynical about the organization -- about the sophistries of 
its staff, about its expansion of its mandate in macro and micro dir-
ections, about its institutionalization of capture under the guise
of 'industry self-regulation,' about its combination of ambition and
incompetence, and about its systematic marginalization of the public
input without which it never would have been granted authority. thus,
it's particularly hilarious in a sort of 21st-century version of the
kafkaesque to be nominated for a position in an organization that

     (a) either doesn't exist or masquerades as an organization that 
         no longer exists
     (b) which in turn formed the membership of a corporation that,
         as staff and counsel never tire of telling us, has no mem-
         bers beyond the convenience of using that term to denote
         non-members
     (c) who in turn voted in a 'selection' process as opposed to an
         'election' process -- at election.com.

the fact that i can summarize the situation so efficiently is a test-
ament to how droll the whole subject has become.
