RE: [atlarge-discuss] The ICANN game

Hello Bruce:

Point well taken. If only it works. The ICANN game has gone long enough. Several years of dancing to their music is sufficient.

I have been in this kind of situation before. Sometimes you have to ponder the citadel that you are supposed to conquer and decide whether or not it is worth the effort to assault. In my opinion this is the Maginot Line. Go around it. They are suffering from tunnel vision [no pun intended] and will even ignore this proclamation. As I have said so many times before they are in denial.

We can do this without them.

I agree with the sentiment, but not the action. As the saying goes:
"forwarned is forearmed." We shouldn't be quick to close any door. If we
enter into a relationship with ICANN knowing their aims -- and letting them
*know* we know! -- we maintain the appearance of cooperation. If ICANN is
playing to appearences so can we! And that appearance robs them of the
argument that we were uncooperative, when we later have grown to the point
where they have to take us seriously.
