This is a good idea. Keeping channels of communication open is vital. Two
things we can do:-

1) Refer it to the WG-WEB, a proposed working group focused on website and
mailing list issues. 2) The Panel discussion is a public archive, so no
reason why a volunteer couldn't step in and "just do it" - go over this
week's posts - summarize - post it here. Next Friday, the same person or
somebody esle can do the same, thereby "holding the fort" until the WG has
chance to convene.

I haven't asked the Panel, but my personal view is that we will find it
difficult to do this for you because any statement the Panel issues needs to
go through a process to make sure everybody agrees the content, and that's
going to tie us up when we need to be focused on other pressing issues.
Also, things are moving ahead fairly fast right now, so I'm not quite sure
how useful it would be after some delay.

This idea works both ways of course. I'm sure the Panel would find it useful
to have a weekly summary of the discuss list, highlighting the salient
points, because if the burden on the list is heavy, with the best will in
the world, not every post is going to be read by every Panelist.
