I'm with Stephen on this. It's a ridiculous situation:
- we're supposed to be choosing an organization name but we're voting on domain names, with an ad hoc procedure which is obviously temporary since eventually bylaws will spell things out more clearly, so it's obviously possible to vote again later if we need to;
- we've got a chair who wants to pull one of the choices from the ballot in mid-vote for fear of being held personally responsible if ICANN decided to sue us (which they won't since we have neither legal existence nor anything to pay damages with) but who, aside from that momentary lapse in judgement, is at least encouraging us to make some sort of progress;
- we've got members representing a wide spectrum of opinion on just about every aspect, including a certain number of hecklers, but we do have a valid reason to exist, opportunities to do something useful, and at least some hope that our common effort may benefit Internet users in the long run, and we *won't* exist unless we can start co-operating instead of attacking one another.
Can't we just stop catastrophizing about unlikely cybersquatting suits and see how the members actually vote?

Judyth
