i don't think that - it's very simple. the stupidity is in those who even
still bother to support icann.
An European GAC Member called the complexity of the DNS imposed by ICANN the "AmerICANN Joke" and one of the French Gov top advisor (and most DNS knowledgeable person) calls it "the bluff of the century". DNS is as simple as to ask Joe if he knows the address of Jeff. This is why this 20 years old system survives well and may even survive ICANN. This is what we do for 2.000.000 years, or more :-)

Judyth, you certainly realize that if you keep asking the same person the address of every one it will be more busy than if you ask many persons. ICANN makes believes that you can only ask Versign and ccTLDs etc. to keep them in business and themselves in control.

BTW you should read ICANN ICP-3 document on this. You will see that what they object is that other then themselves make money on DNs. And that they call for "responsilble" testings accepting that it may lead to absurd (IMHO) changes, provided hey may keep business control :-)

This is what dot-root is about, complying with the testing demand, but also testing if there are not other ways than to keep the control with ICANN.
