RE: [atlarge-discuss] Words Without Support 030517...
@Large,
Suspecting to whom the gadfly refers, it seems increasingly that this
individual is what some might refer to as a "snert".... References and
explanations which are obviously sarcasm do not register with this
person. An attempt to reply off-list gets forwarded in reply to the
list, trying to illustrate grammatical/spelling errors is ignored and
the overall level of comprehension leads me to believe either a lack of
age/education or just plain ignorance and egotistical arrogance. Thank
goodness for the filtering tools. Walt, hehe, "Shai Dorsai!" and the
mistaken tactics catch up eventually with fools and idiots.
S.S. - did not mean to raise a spectre on visiting Canada at all, and
would still be interested in what online attendance might be possible.
James K. - had hoped to avoid downloading the Multilanguage modules, but
perhaps eventually the Babylon of languages will be solved
technologically, however in the meantime with regards to actual Domain
Name use, imposing English or a particular script (though not optimum
and perhaps reprehensible to some perspectives) as a standard may be the
only short term solution. ISO abbreviations for countries should be
accepted IMO for TLDs along geographical rather than racial or social
concepts. Your comments are thoughtful and your withdrawal is
regrettable IMHO.
Mauro R., comments on the language topic in DNS are another illustration
of why I think you would make a fine candidate.
M. Sherrill, thawte.com is certainly one road to consider, along with
perhaps registered PGP keys? Though I would hate to think that
encryption would be necessary, it does give a certain higher standard of
identification.
A. Wisman, another excellent choice, thank you for your openness. That
someone would question veracity would offend me personally, so you show
admirable restraint in response. I would be honored to Second your
nomination if allowed or needed.
Still unanswered from one of my earlier questions is the composition and
selection of this "Watchdog" committee, who are they, how did they
become part of this committee, what are their terms of office and how
are they selected. The tremendous number of Links being discovered
relating to ICANN and @large is daunting. Beginning to think I should
have gotten involved much earlier and perhaps not made such an
aggressive entrance here lately with uninformed questions.
Mention is made of additional time allowed for this current election
process, but the announcement must have slipped by me or was in another,
as yet unsubscribed mailing list. Dropping back again into references
from the past development of political organization in the USA,
regarding the term for this Panel, three months would hardly be
sufficient, but anything over a year would move toward too much
longevity.
While the IDNA topic is certainly a difficult question, and pertinent to
this group, taking it up at this point in time obfuscates the need to
focus on organization prior to taking up actual considerations and
actions for the future. I do not mean to say that candidates should not
speak of their views on how and when to address IDNA, but trying to
solve it now detracts from energies better spent in gaining full
recognition for and greater participation of the members of
ICANN@Large....
Respectfully submitted in Summary,
Jeff Holt

...too bad we never set daily limits!
Our gadfly continues - at "spam" level, and set a new day-high of 19!
It appears there might be another - I really hope not.
And remember, the BEST way to handle spam is to IGNORE it!
