The argument IS about the need to verify the identity of all candidates
prior to inclusion on the ballot, because surprising at it may seem, with no
way to tell real people from fictitious ones, it could result in a fraud.
Then what? Another Election?
Dear Joanna,

I am glad you are still a barking watchdog, even though you have "resigned".

I agree that voters *could* be silly enough to vote for a fraud in this coming election.
However, since we are a collection of people with more than average education, I doubt it.

Surely we must write a procedure for identity challenge and make it part of our Bylaws.
In the meantime, we have to go on the assumption that the candidates are who they say they are and challenge the ones we doubt.

The perfect is the enemy of the good.
This election is far from perfect, but if the electees take their mandate as a short and limited bootstrap role, I am in favour to let this election proceed and make use of Jefsey's willingness to run it.

Another election? Absolutely!

for Polling Commission
for membership committee
for Executive Panel
for website content Panel

as soon as the election rules are put in place.

Meaning you approve of an electoral system which encourages the multiple
personalities of one person to stand for election for every one of the Panel
seats?
Surely not. Please challenge all candidates you do not know to post their picture in the Forum and attach the names and addresses of two witnesses with their email addresses.
This is simpler and cheaper than Thawte verification and for the moment it should be sufficient.

I have always felt that the voters need to see a picture, especially when the candidate has not posted at least 1000 words. :-)

Or are you stuffing the ballot box with imaginary friends to ensure
only those you know personally will be elected?
I am not, and this is a problem that needs to be looked at by a membership committee prior to further elections.
The voters' list.

This is absurd. Where's the common sense?
Indeed the accusations are absurd in my case. Try to help and common sense can prevail.
