Internet firm sues access providers for patent infringement
Jiji Press English News Service
Tokyo-based International Scientific Company Tuesday sued three
Japanese internet access providers for allegedly infringing its
patented fee-charging system.
The internet venture firm is seeking an injunction from Tokyo
District Court banning the access providers from using the "time-
based fee-charging system for the internet," which the company has
patented in Japan and the United States, it said.
This is the first legal case involving a patent related to an
internet-based business model in Japan.
