Retooling Business-Method Patents

Special to Washtech.com Requests for patents on e-commerce
technologies should be subject to stricter reviews, according to a
bill introduced this month by Reps. Rick Boucher and Howard Berman.
While their Business Method Patent Improvement Act likely will
undergo some major retooling, as good an idea as it is, it's half-
baked.
Boucher, of Virginia, said that the bill is not intended to move
during the final days of the current Congress but will be introduced,
possibly in a different form, next year.
