ISPs' Free Ride Over in Sweden?

Anders L&oumlvbrand says he's found a steady source of income for
indigent content providers: ISPs.

Internet service providers would be worthless without the online
media they distribute, figures the 26-year-old Swede, yet content
providers aren't getting a fair slice of the revenue pie they help
bake.

The idea behind L&oumlvbrand's company TRIC, which stands for "true
revenue for Internet content," is this: Online media band together in
a united front to force ISPs to pay for distributing their material.
Using proprietary software, TRIC will filter out ISPs that refuse to
pay up.

Customers of non-conforming ISPs will get an "access denied" message
similar to this when they surf to a TRIC site, along with links to
ISPs that do have access to the content.
