General Information : 

A conference entitled "Optimising Your ATM Offerings by effectively
Managing Bandwidths, Billing and Network Performance with Integrated
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Information Processing (IP) Based
Solutions" will be held in London on 20-22 January 1999. 

The conference will be preceded by a seminar on maximising ATM
capabilities and learning from case studies how ATM can serve
mission-critical networks. Over 30 speakers from leading ATM operators
and manufacturers will attend the conference itself, which will focus
on four main topics. These will be: 

- An examination of developments of standards within the ATM forum and
the Internet Engineering Taskforce (IETF) with regards to ATM and IP;
- Developing innovative charging and accounting systems to reflect
user needs and enable accurate ATM management; - Learning from case
studies how to overcome the challenges of integrating ATM and ADSL to
provide broadband access in the corporate and residential network; -
Evaluating the latest technical approaches of interworking ATM with
Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), IP and World Digital Music (WDM).


The event targets one of the themes of interest of the European
Commission's Information Society Project Office and is being organised
by the ATM Forum.
