Dear Reconsideration
Committee:
European candidates are
discussing the following question.
When, by whom, where and
- most importantly - why was the decision made, to give candidates nominated by
ICANNs nomination committee a preferred place on the final list of candidates
for election as a board member.
It could only have
happened at the Yokohama meeting on July, 16, 2000. All though I did not find
anything in the minutes.
I hereby request
reconsideration of this decision and a stay on the action. The At-Large-Members
were able to provide candidates for every region. There is no logical reason to
give ICANNs candidates a preferred position.
One could even argue,
that there is no need for ICANN nominated candidates at all.
ICANN is requested to
modify the election process on grounds of equal rights to the member candidates
and the committee nominated candidates. The members should decide by vote, who
will be on the final ballot.
