Why would they have to give us a site "on their machine"? All I'm
talking about is A and possibly MX records in their zone file. (And
no, I didn't ask so far.) Hosting of such web sites could be done
independently on different organizations' machines. I'm quite sure
that FITUG would offer ressources for this, for instance.
Additionally, I don't think that having a host name within the
icann.org domain would have any negative effect on the sites' or
lists independence - every list is as independent as its subscribers
are.

Who is Kent Crispin? As I wrote, I didn't check whether or not
at-large.org is free or not. Apparently it's not - bad luck.
