Re: [ICANN-EU] US Government's ultimate control.

Jeanette and all,

We are reluctant to agree with Jeanette here, but INEGRoup
in part does. We struggled with this problem or concern within
our organization as well so as to arrive at a position/policy.

We came to the conclusion that "This ICANN" as it is in
it's present state/form, in not expectable for the USG to turn
over control of the Internet and determine policy for the
Internet. We also determined that as many US Citizens
that are also stakeholders are strongly against the USG
relinquishing complete control of the Internet or even the
Root structure and IP addresses, to ICANN, or any body
like ICANN that may come in the future. It is also
true that many US Citizens and also stakeholders are
not in favor of the USG maintaining complete control
of the Internet and policy determination for the Internet.
Therefore we take the position that complete privatization
is inconsistent with anyone best interest and that the Internet
is a global public trust which the stakeholders along with
their respective governments should jointly share in the
control of the Internet and any and all of it's policies or
that a separate body that has NO national affiliation
should be formed to do so....
