Well, Kraaijenbrink tried to persuade the board to award .web to
Afilias, at one point stating that he was fully aware of what he was
suggesting, and that he thought it was a good thing.  My
interpretation of his argument is that he doesn't want anyone to be
awarded for using TLDs before ICANN approves that.

Vint Cerf, on the other hand, objected against this.  Earlier during
the meeting, he had tried to get iodesign into the "basket",
recognizing their pioneering character, but failed.

In the end, there just was a stronger majority for awarding .info to
Afilias than .web - that was all.
