[ICANN-EU] Election term (was: 2 kandidaten - eine stimme)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the usual election term for ICANN directors
is three years. During the setup procedure, the supporting organisations
termed some of the directors seats differently so that they would not have
to elect all of them at the same time, but re-elected directors will
ususally seat for three years.

As for the five new AtLarge directors: Their term will end at the Annual
Meeting 2002, so it's roughly two years (for all of them). The election
procedure of the remaining four and the second election of the five will
be determined by a study of the first election. This will take place
during the year 2001, decicions may be made late 2001 or early 2002. At
least until the next election probably 2002, the four remaing AtLarge
seats will be taken by four of the initial directors that will continue
service. At Yokohama there was a lot of discussion about the possibility
of the number of AtLarge directors dropping to four and than to zero, but
the text of bylaws (and this is at least the official intent of the board)
now reads to keep nine AtLarge directors at all time. When we expect the
results of the study to be positive we can guess that things will settle
down a bit after 2002 and the confusion will be over.

This is not exactly about candidates, but I though you might be interested
in case you are elected. :-)
