You're certainly right that such a list isn't suitable for
mass-media attention, and that this can most easily be accomplished
by real-life events.

Partially. A body which is able to exercise influence needs to
reach other degrees of consensus than an open community. This can,
in turn, lead to degrees of flammage which aren't helpful.

Additionally, a pressure group requires _lots_ of _dedicated_ work
and personal commitment. You need at least some individual working
full-time on it. Actually, Andy MM demonstrates how you can do
this, with the CCC.

Essentially, we need both: A pressure group on the one hand, and an
open list on the other. Currently, given the right members, I still
believe an open list is the thing which has (1) priority, and (2) is
readily available.

Through list members which are supplied with brilliant ideas and
arguments. ;-)

I'm arguing from the assumption that (at least!) the final European
@large director will follow the list, and actively participate.
This may or may not be the case, and will be crucial for such a list
having impact.
