Following its open doors policy, all of ICANN's meetings are webcasted and
made public, eg.

If you want to understand ICANN, you (and some of the others writing here,
I guess...) should begin with reading the 20 or so documents at
http://www.icann.org/general/abouticann.htm
The 'term' topic is dealt with in the bylaws in several chapters due to
the many changes that where applied to them
(http://www.icann.org/general/bylaws.htm).
Sorry, there is no easy path to knowledge.
Of course it is also important to attend to the meetings in person. I am
planning to arrange German funds for visits similar to those of the Markle
foundation. No idea if it'll work.
