[
[ Dear Mr. McLaughlin,
[
[ This is a message for proposing an enhancement on the withdrawal page.
[ I suggest to allow a candidate who requested to withdraw from the member-
[ nomination process to leave a ten words (or a row) optional comment to
[ place near to the right of his/her name in the withdrawn
[ candidates page as it
[ currently shown on web site.
[
[ As far as I know , the withdrawal process is actually handled manually by
[ the election staff and that page is static and manually built so
[ the additional
[ effort needed to support this enhancement is really negligible.
[
[ On the other side, benefits will results for both the candidate
[ which is going
[ to withdraw and members who were giving endorsements to him/her.
[
[ The candidate doesn't know who is endorsing him/her, is not sure
[ they will
[ get a notice (FAQ tells:.. if time allows ICANN will send... ) of
[ the event and
[ the most important thing ..it becomes impratical to ride all
[ place where (s)he
[ was campaigning for endorsements to explain reasons of withdrawal.
[
[ Members, who owns endorsements, will be able to figure out what happened
[ an decide what to do next in a more informed manner.
[ A candidate will still have the way (being the comment optional)
[ to decide to
[ not give reasons for withdrawal, if (s)he likes to do this.
[
[ I don't see technical reasons for not allowing for this comment
[ (this is not
[ infringing or changing member-nominations process rules, rights or other
[ policies) and the effort for allowing this for candidates which already
[ withdrawn by the member-nomination process is limited to a 3
[ short e-mails.
[
[ I would like to kindly know your opinion about this proposal.
[ Thank in advance for your support.
[
[ Best Regards
[ Giorgio Griffini
