My 2 cents (of Euro) ;>)
If there are two sets of Directors, one elected by the Supporting 
Organizations (where the technical competence is supposedly located), and 
one elected by the "general public" (that is generally expected to have less 
awareness about technical competence), there must be a reason.

If this reason is to ensure diversity of points of views, we will not do a 
good service to ICANN if we elect the same type of people that come out from 
the SO election process.
