Hi folks,

I strongly agree with Kurt. While I understand and support differing
opinions of Alf and Jefsey (asking for more formal funding), I think
we have the opportunity and the obligation now to build up momentum
for "our" director. I guess we will have no nomcom nominated but a
member nominated director. She or he will not be able to travel on
her/his own expenses on the middle run. We expect her/him to do a lot
of grassrooting and be open for input and duly organised at the same
time. All of that requires a lot of money.
Therefore, I hope we will find enough people to support a European
director in getting really European.
I hope we may eventually get to some more organised form of a European
At-Large-Forum, well funded by ICANN itself, governments, institutions
and members. Until then, I think some "begging" does no harm and may
heavily support the credibility and capacities of our director.
Kind regards,
Patrick
