A seminar to establish a network of Information Technologies (IT) cooperations between European and Latin American companies will be held in Bilbao, Spain, on 9-10 February 1999.

"EU-Latin American Industrial Cooperation in the Area of Information Technologies: Industrial Aspects of the Information Society" aims at creating a framework for cooperation in IT. The event is supported by the EU's AL-INVEST programme for business cooperation with Latin America and will offer potential partners from the EU and Latin America the opportunity to establish contacts.

The event addresses professional associations, public entities, innovative companies, private technology centres and businessmen with experience in industrial cooperation in IT with Latin America.

The seminar will have the following sessions:

- Situation of the Information Technologies in Latin America and Europe in different industrial sectors; - Launching the joint programme; - EU-Latin America cooperation into practice; - Meeting of the Joint Committee Core Group.
