Business analysts will rub shoulders with aspiring technology tycoons at "Electronic Commerce Europe 99", the European Forum for Electronic Business Communication's (EEMA) annual conference and exhibition. This event, to be held in Paris from 9 to 11 June 1999, will focus on the key business and technology issues facing organisations as they implement e-commerce strategies. Participants will be shown how analysts' predictions that over US$426 million of consumer goods will be traded across the Internet in 2002 might be met and even exceeded.
Representatives from leading organisations, including Informix, Lotus Development, and Microsoft, will attend the event, which will focus on XML, which some are hailing as the next generation web language.
Other topics to be discussed at this event include:
- Standardisation;
- The challenges surrounding the year 2000;
- European issues including the introduction of
the euro and the latest news on e-commerce
initiatives, messaging and directory
standards;
- A keynote focussing on electronic trading into the
21st century;
- Security implications as companies
adopt more open systems and relationships.
The event organisers are expecting it to attract senior decision-makers from throughout Europe to hear about e-business topics close to their business needs. Gerard Santucci will represent the European Commission's DG XIII, and will focus on the implications of e-commerce for the financial markets and public sectors respectively.
