Copyright Control Services To Assist In Global Effort In Removing Illegal Mp3 Music Files From The Internet.

LONDON, Nov 18, 1999 (INTERNET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Copyright Control Services (CCS) announced today that it is now providing tracking, tracing and technical services to assist the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's (IFPI) world-wide effort in removing illegal MP3 music files from the Internet.

CCS's action will be supporting the international recording industry in its coordinated global crackdown on Internet pirates that was announced jointly on 28 October 1999 by recording trade associations including the RIAA, BPI and IFPI.

CCS employs a team of highly skilled tracking and tracing operatives, who monitor the Internet and can find infringing files on a variety of different Internet sites (http, ftp, hotline, newsgroups and Internet Relay Chat). Using CCS-developed techniques and proprietary software, CCS determines where the Internet posting is coming from and gathers information to help identity the pirate. In addition, preserves evidence for reference in the event of a lawsuit.
