Nearing Deadline, Australia Has Yet to Outline Net Restrictions

Just weeks away from a Jan. 1 deadline for enacting legislation intended to restrict children's access to online pornography, the Australian government has yet to decide how to enforce the law.

While most Australian Internet users expect the government to adopt a set of rules proposed by Internet companies, critics say that this approach, which they consider less draconian than the original legislation, is still flawed. And the Internet service providers that must enforce the legislation are still wondering what, if anything, they need to do by the new year.
