New French Research Minister announces initiatives (Europe - 10/05/00)
The new French Research Minister Schwartzenberg has announced initiatives concerning the upcoming French Council Presidency. It should be made possible to "begin building a Europe of science and innovation", he stated. The new measures will for example consist in a rapid setting in place of a European patent, the creation of a European fund to support procedures for initiating new research, the installation of European technological research networks in key sectors and a creation of a European Science and Technology Academy.
