Crash landing of the Internet in general?

If crashing "new" economy stocks and the decline of dot-com mania weren't enough, there appears to be a brewing backlash against the Internet in general. This backlash, if it indeed expresses itself in a predominant manner, could lead to a crisis for those laying the theoretical foundations of what they consider to be the "information society" of the future.
