Yahoo! offers encrypted e-mail

The Web portal will let its e-mail users send super-secret messages. But one analyst says it's more security than most users need.

Yahoo! Inc. on Wednesday became the first major portal to offer free, encrypted e-mail services. But at least one analyst says it's a solution for a problem that hardly exists. Yahoo!'s new "Send via SecuritDelivery.com" is the result of a $5.7 million deal the portal signed earlier this year with e-mail security company ZixIt Corp.
