First synthetic virus created

Scientists have assembled the first synthetic virus.
The US researchers built the infectious agent from scratch using the genome sequence for polio.
The experiment has been received with a mixture of praise and suspicion.
The artificial virus was able to infect and kill mice and seems to be identical to its natural counterpart.
