Hi, Jeff et al.,

Actually, I said they shouldn't be Panel members or candidates
for the new Panel. I did not suggest going completely outside
the group since elections within organizations are commonly
conducted by officials chosen from among and by the members.

Thus far, Jeff has objected to my serving as a watcher, while a
few other members are willing to let me do so. Perhaps before
Vittorio e-mails me the membership list, I should ask whether
any other member(s) share Jeff's reservations about me and
whether there are any other members they would prefer. If so,
I will gladly step aside; if not, I solemnly swear that no
matter how strongly I hold my own opinions, I would not under
any circumstances tamper with the expression of the will of
the membership.
