There were steps I had to take to get a not-named certificate. The real
purpose of this exercise was to get access to the list of notaries one
needs to visit in order to eventually arrive at one's named certificate.
As one needs 50 points (see following paragraph), and as it appears each
notary can only issue 10 to 35 points, it will take a few visits.

Here's the text: Simplicity is a key feature of the Web of Trust. When you
first enroll in the Thawte Personal Certification System your identity is
not trusted. This means that you are not able to put your name into any
certificates - instead your name appears as "Thawte Freemail Member".
However, adding your name to the certificate is a simple matter of finding
a Web of Trust Notary in your area using the Notary Map. A Notary will be
able to award you a number of Trust Points when you appear in person with
your necessary identifying documentation. The more experienced the Notary,
the more Trust Points she can assign to you. Notaries can assign between
10 and 35 points. Once you have 50 Trust Points you become trusted, and
you can put your name in your personal certificate.

And here's the first page of the Notary information. They have an
impressive list of countries - how impressive their list of Notaries is,
is unknown.

I noticed they list Antarctica but not the Artic Circle, and they ONLY
list Earth...
