According to the LA times the Motion Picture Assocation (MPA),
the international trade group for motion picture studios says it
has issued 54,000 letters in 2001 and more than 18,000 letters
in the first quarter of 2002 requesting ISPs take "appropriate
action" (i.e. take down content).

The MPA says the number of bootlegs on the Internet has dropped
dramatically.
