I agree that fund-raising rather than dues is the way to go.  Myself and
many others have already pledged various sums that we can call for  once we
get incorporated.  And all of Jefsey's money-raising ideas are good.  I'm
sure that other members can come up with many other ideas more appropriate
for their regions!

Conversely, I dislike the ideas of dues.  First, unless you place them on a
sliding scale, what would be a the cost of a nice restaurant meal for some
US and Europeans could be a week's pay for others!  And sliding-scale fees
of any kind are usually looked on as inequitable by those  paying from the
top of the scale!
