Hello Everyone:

Why not have the Panel select their own spokesperson?  This is a representative political group.  We have elected a certain body to represent us.  We should allow them to use their initiative and their resources to determine whom among them can best serve to speak for them after consensus (I am choosing my words carefully here).  Give them a chance.  If it does not work out the way we hoped it would then we vote them out the next election.  Or petition them out if they become ICANN-like.

...and just where is it written that the panel has to elect a chair?  And, if 
so, why should the panel and not the membership be the group that does the 
electing?  Who approved these indirect elections?  This reminds me of the ERC 
scheme to have the constituencies elect a Nominating Committee that then 
chooses who will be in power.  How are you different than ICANN in that 
regard?  Are you now endorsing the Nominating Committeee concept?
