Subject: choose between "control" and "rule of Law"

Our first job is to replace Joop with some live human being that we
trust with the control over the site.
Vote against the motion if you like. THis has been an outstanding
issue for several months.
Jamie,
I'll close my eyes to the implied compliment.
Assuming that we = you and Hans, your motion is moot.
Bret Fausett is already in control and has been so for months. He can
modify or even shut down the site as he pleases. The website is with a
commercial hosting provider that he controls.
What you (the Panel, the members) now need is somebody who is willing to
take over the actual work, professionally and without political bias.
In order to achieve that you (the Panel) have to promulgate the Rules under
which your webmaster is to operate.
*That* is your first job.
For substantive contributions/drafts, see the Forum (under "Charter" and
under "Calling for a volunteer webmaster")
or let the Bylaws committee come up with some editorial rules.
Hasty motions for appointments *without* webmaster Rules in the bylaws,
based on some subjective "trust", reek of coup attempts.
In that case it is better to follow Jefsey's and Chris' precept and "let a
dozen websites bloom".
Frustrate the 1000 waiting members long enough and that's what you will
have on your hands anyway.
(Please do not censor this, Thomas.
This is intended for the Panel)

Sign up and spread the word.
******It *was* censored and then with a editorial forwarded to the alsg
list that Thomas also controls--there is no public record that the Panel
members are on that list (or that Michael Geist is on this list, for that
matter)*****
I post it here again for the record.
