Dear DPF,
could you tell us what prevents you to do what I did 18 month ago and you
documented perfectly: to incorporate nz@atlarge to unite the NS @large
people and to represent them seriously in the @large international Congress?
Or do you really need to have us@large to be incorporated as
icannatlage.org and to wait for the Panel to help you doing it? I do not
understand, you fight ICANN as centralized and the first thing you want to
do is to centralize yourself.
This does not interest anyone but those who are in the center. This is
named nomenclatural.
We are not going to grow this organisation much further unless we
actually start to do things.
Decision is yours. I will not incorporate nz@large. I can give you an
address. I can give you a site. I can give you a mailing list if you really
need it; but I cannot register it for you, I cannot meet the Auckland
press, I cannot set-up meetups there, I cannot dialog with ISPs, etc...
If we start doing things then it will be much harder for ICANN to claim
having an at large is impossible.
True.
We can set the agenda for ALAC and also be the vehicle which leads to
having an individual registrants constituency within the gNSO.
If you so like too. But better to be in the press and Govs reports as a
large worldwide system. Actually better to co-run the DNS. We would have
more weight.....
EIther you do it or we will all end in ISOC.
ISOC are exactly @large organization requested by ALSC. Some generous move
is going to happen 12 months from now (at renewal): @large are going to
take over ICANN.
It will be all over the press "Internet management is given to the Internet
users: ICANN is made a part of ISOC. This way the Internet governance is
eventually made homogenous, IAB, IETF, ICANN are all now part of the
Internet Society, the operator of ".org" which funds the Internet
governance. The US government removes itself from its direct involvement in
the worldwide Internet".
This is what we start calling the "tecolonization" (technical
e-colonization of the world).
Is really that what we want? US people should be interested, except that it
will not work: a network is not only a secured and financed bit access
system, it is also people oriented, and I doubt that such a scheme will go
very far without strong and destabilizing objections.
