[atlarge-discuss] Report to the Polling Committee

Dear Members of the Polling Commitee,
Nominations and registations to participate are now closed. The status of 
the nominations is indicated below.

The next step is May 15th for the list of the candidates and the questions 
to add on the ballot: they will tell the mission the Members want to give 
to the elected Panel. The vote will be carried during 10 days from May 17th 
to May 27th.

The atlarge@execlub.org mailing list has proven to be a good tool for us to 
receive anonymous mails from the Members we can trust to receive 
anonymously the ballots of the Members.

Current figures

- We currently have 11 Panelist position to fill and:

  - 13 declared candidates (see the list below)
  - 1   candidate who said he would confirm depending personnal reasons.
  - 27 declined nominations
  - 89 seconded nominees not havnig responded yet.
    Every nominee has been sent a personal direct mail to inform him/her
  - over a total o 1083 registered voters.

- Candidates to date are from 8 different countries and from the 5 ICANN 
regions
- Nominees come from 51 countries.

Comments

This election was complex and slow to set-up. These figures show however 
that our Committee has permitted this action to survive :
- the salutary split from the ALACollborators
- the problems the Panel met during the past year,
- the "IDNO legacy" (the org/com split) this election should hopefully help 
to overcome in a good cooperation spirit,
- the trolls and the bickering every mailing list has.

Next Action

Our Polling Committee has now to complete the questionnaire for the ballot. 
We have to help the Members to rise and formulate the proper questions they 
will democratically use to tell our Panelists where they want to go and 
what they we expect from them.

Here I will need help. To aggregate the questions and to edit them in 
proper English.
