[atlarge-discuss] POLING COMMITTEE: Status Report
Dear Polling Committee Members,
Dear Members;
I report here on the status of the preparation of the Panel election:
The current status is the following;
- 11 Panelists are to be elected
- 19 Members have accepted to be a candidate
- 3 Members have not been reached at their listed mail address
- 34 Nominees have declined
- 99 Members have not responded yet
- 3 Members are considering after a first question
- 1013 Members have a working listed e-mail
The detail of the responses and of the links is semi-automatically
maintained at http://execlub.org/atlarge.htm
The mail I proposed yesterday and you tacitly agreed has been sent to all
the nominees after being edited by a neutral professional third party. As
you know it recalls the Candidates about the missing URL and the debate on
the mailing list; and the nominees about the need for them to respond
before midnight GMT tomorrow.
The following part interests every one:
"The ballot will include questions to the Members by the Members. The
responses will tell the Panelists what the Members want them to do. Please
send your concerns to the Polling Committee. They will be packed by themes.
We do not want to overlook any theme and any suggested option."
The following paragraph is of interest to the nominees having declined and
to the whole Membership:
"Many have proposed to help: you can now be a watchdog. You will receive a
copy of all the Voters ID. The whole file of the anonymous votes will be
released after the vote. This list will permit you to check that no faked
ballot was counted and also that no ballot was removed. You will
participate to the vote on litigious cases. The Polling Committee Members
act as watchdogs too. They have received the list of the names associated
to each Voter ID.
For practical management reasons the Polling Committee may chose a maximum
of three Watchdogs among the interested Members." (I note that I added that
last sentence after considering the load on me and the time draught from my
familly and my business).
The dates of the vote are from May 17th to May 27th. We have voted your
proposed a 10 days voting period to give time to the Members. At that time
we feared that candidates could be hurt by ad hominem and bickering. It
seems the dialog is courteous. Would that permit to give it some extra days?
