Good morning, Richard:

Apparently, I was nominated and seconded.  Unfortunately, due to the fact
that I was traveling incommunicado for two weeks (in a Haitian village) I
returned to find that the nomination and acceptance period had passed. You
will find me on the list of non-responders.

Good afternoon, Jefsey and At-Largers:

I was traveling and incommunicado for a couple of weeks.  Now, upon my
return, I find that during my absence I was nominated for a position on the
new Panel, designated as a Panel member to be responsible for membership
development, seconded by two members plus two undisclosed panel members,
asked to accept or decline the nomination, asked to post my CV on a website
that is completely new to me, told that the nomination acceptance period is
closed, and given a voter ID.

WOW!  All that accomplished in so short a time! There is hope for us yet.
Jefsey,  you are to be congratulated on achieving this in such a short time,
the mass of critical postings and negative comments notwithstanding.

The credentials of the 26 candidates are impressive and the geographical
diversity heartening.  Many of the candidate postings and statements appear
to reflect an understanding of the difficult, open and critical environment
in which they will have to perform, and the will to do the hard work
necessary.

I wish to personally thank all of the candidates for their unselfish
willingness to work on our behalf and I await the election results and the
early development of a Panel strategy paper that we can all vigorously
support.  Please know that I stand ready to help in any way that I can.
