I never promised to include the polling questions verbatim. They were going
to be consolidated with all similar questions provided in the numerous
replys by the membership. They were. I'm not completely happy with
Jefsey's transcription, but given that his European slant is really more
popular in most of the countries where English ias spoken as a second
language, I'm not completely unhappy with them either. And from Jefsey and
Eric's posts, they both felt comfortable with the European flavor as well.
That means we were in agreement. My only regret was that work commitments
prevented me from editing the text a bit myself before the ballot had to go
out. However, I did review them, and if I had seen any serious issues, I
would have taken the heat to delay the election even further to edit them.
I did not.

We did exactly what we said we would, i.e,: we consolidated your polling
questions, and the many others received from the membership, into
categories. So in that respect, yes, it was deliberate.
Joop, you must come to grips with the fact that your poll is only one of
many disaparate voices in this organization. The list of questions
presented in the ballot closely reflects that multitude of thought. If that
tends to dilute your message, rest assured that it diluted all others as
equally as we could effect. Besides, this list was not intend to influence
the answer, only ask the questions stated. Isn't that the point? The
membership will decide for themselves which questions they support, and vote
accordingly. Besides which, as I've said before, this will not be the only
input anyone has to policymaking in this organization. Any resulting
policies that come from these questions, will still require the approval of
the membersip in future elections before becoming policy.
Many of the best minds in this group are uncomfortable with Web-based forums
because we are aware that they are easily subject to censorship and
manipulation by the site's administrator(s). This is not to say that this
is the case on your part (in fact, I'm reasonably certian it is *not!*).
But perception is often as damaging as fact, and this organization should
attempt to avoid processes that have the potential for compromise.

| Jefsey,

|
| There was a chance to verify the outcome of that April poll
| with a new
| (email) poll, conducted by an independent party, but with the

|
| This opportunity to make those results uncontested has now been lost.
